WanderingSnow is a storytelling-based lifestyle blog based in New York City run by Ellie Z. The name is derived from a combination of her interest in wandering discoveries through travel and food with her Chinese name Xue, which means snow.

Resident of New York City, Southern girl at heart, and Chinese roots in origin, this is a glimpse of her journey through the turns and corner of her late 20s onward!

Tsing Yi Nature Trails Hike HONG KONG

Tsing Yi Nature Trails Hike HONG KONG

Mostly known as a transit hub and next to Hong Kong International Airport, Tsing Yi is definitely not the first location that comes to mind when considering going for a hike unless you live on the island. Well, I’m here to prove you wrong!

Dubbed as the San Francisco of Hong Kong (by me), Tsing Yi Nature Trails provide vantage points of the Tsing Ma Bridge that reminds me so much of the hike of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco! Easy to navigate with designated viewing points along the way, this 5 km with minimal uphill climb is very manageable and provides a close-up of the iconic bridge.

Getting There

1.Trail Begins at Cheung Wang Estate

Buses 948 and E21 drop off near Cheung Wang Estate. Otherwise, take the Tung Chung MTR line to the last stop in Tsing Yi and cab it to the Estate.

2. Once at Cheung Wang Estate, go around the Estate complex up a hill until you see the entrance for Tsing Yi Nature Trails. Your hike begins here!

The main portion of the trail is a loop with various points of entry throughout, hence to complete the loop will be roughly 5km and will take you back towards Cheung Wang Estate.

Because we hiked this trail during springtime, the skies were often grey with heavy clouds looming over. However, the hibiscus and other flowers alike highlighted the trail with their vibrant colors, making up for the dull grey in the backdrop!

Other Tips

Tsing Yi Park is close by, depending on which section of the Tsing Yi Nature Trail you exit from. It’s walkable (within 2-3km) and a nice place to leisurely walk around and check out!

Maritime Square, one of the main malls in Tsing Yi has an array of Chinese cuisine, many of which targeting Mainland Chinese taste buds, hence a great place to check out if you are craving hotpot or northern Chinese food! We had an excellent Peking Duck among other dishes at The Door Northern Chinese Dining.
